There are simply way too many deals to shove into one post at this year’s sale. I’m highlighting my favorite pieces of gear below, but don’t forget to check out the rest of the deals happening here:

Best REI Hiking Deals

Check out these killer deals on some of my favorite hiking gear essentials, including electronics, hiking day packs, and trekking poles.

Garmin inReach Mini 2 ($100 off) & Messenger ($50 off)

The Garmin inReach Mini 2 is a small must-have device which you to send and receive messages, track your location, and even directly contact search & rescue.

The Messenger is Garmin’s newest device which lacks the map and route-tracking features of the inReach Mini, but still has all the messenger and SOS features that has made the inReach a must-have for every outdoorsy person, and it comes in at a lower price tag to boot!

Both devices pair with an app on your phone, so you can essentially text anyone, even in the wilderness.

Countless hikers and travelers have been rescued thanks to the “SOS” feature on these that allow you to directly communicate and coordinate with search & rescue. It’s one of those features you hope you never have to use, but I can’t imagine going outdoors without.

REI Flash 18L & 22L Backpacks (30% Off)

When it comes to the best bang for your buck for a beginner’s pack, the REI brand Flash 22 daypack (also available in a smaller 18L) has all the essential daypack requirements, at a great price (and that’s before you take 30% off!)

I’ve worn the Flash 22 pack on countless adventures, I love how lightweight it is while still being able to hold a long day’s worth of gear, and the lack of internal frame mean you can easily shove it in a suitcase or bag to take it on your travels.

Shop REI Flash Daypacks, here.

If you’re looking to dip your toe into lightweight gear, but don’t want to spend big bucks – the REI Flash 55L Pack is the best deal on the market. This Pack is compatible with REI’s “Packmod” products – meaning you can add accessories like internal pockets you want, or remove features like hip belt pockets, you don’t.

REI Trailmade 60L is a great beginner backpack at a crazy affordable price. REI Half Dome SL+ Tent (30% Off)

A perfect backpacking tent for beginners and experienced hikers alike. In fact the REI Half Dome Tent is the first backpacking tent I ever used.

This tent is completely freestanding, making it very easy to use, spacious, and has plenty of space for 2 people plus gear. The 2p size weighs about 4 lbs and is already reasonably priced at $349 – now on sale for $249.

Shop the REI Half Dome SL+ Tent, here.

NEMO Hornet Osmo Tent (25% Off)

I just switched to this semi-freestanding 2-person tent for the Trans-Catalina Trail, and loved it. The NEMO Hornet Osmo is, realistically, a bit tight for 2 people plus their gear, but it’s perfect for 1 person plus gear, and weighs in at 2 lb 8 oz (without footprint).

If you’re looking for a lightweight tent option, this is a great one to consider. And with 25% off right now, this tent (ordinarily $429) becomes a much more affordable $322.

Shop the NEMO Hornet Osmo Tent, here.

NEMO Fillo Pillow

I don’t care what they say – having a proper, comfortable, and supportive camp pillow isn’t a luxury on trail – its a necessity!

In my experience, the Nemo Fillo Pillow is the second best thing to your own bed, thanks to the 1 inch of memory foam on top of the inflatable pad. Worth every ounce – and its on sale for XXX.

If weight really is a priority, check out their ultralight Nemo Fillo Elite 3oz version, without the memory foam.

Shop the Nemo Fillo Pillow, here.

REI Magma Sleeping Bags (30% Off)

This just might be the best value 3-season backpacking sleeping bag on the market. It’s lightweight, packable, and ultra warm. I’m a very cold sleeper and the REI Magma 15 Degree Sleeping Bag is the first bag I’ve used that actually keeps me completely warm on cold nights!

Also available in a 30 Degree version, this bag is ideal for warm sleepers or summer trips. Filled with 850-fill goose down and comes in at a lightweight 1 lb 8 oz (medium). You’d be hard-pressed to find a better backpacking bag for less than $400.

Shop the REI Magama Sleeping bags, here.

Nemo Tensor Insulated Sleeping Pad (25% Off)

My current sleeping pad, the 14oz Nemo Tensor Insulated Sleeping Pad packs down to the size of just a water bottle.

At 3.5 inches wide, this pad is perfect for side sleepers. The drawback is the relatively low R value of 2.8, making this a good sleeping pad for summer and warmer shoulder season adventures.

Shop the NEMO Tensor Insulated Sleeping Pad, here.

NEMO Switchback Foam Sleeping Pad (25% Off)

For the true ultralight sleeping pad, this accordion-folding-style foam pad comes in at a cool sale price of $44.89.

Use this pad alone, or like I do, stacked underneath my inflatable sleeping pad. It adds warmth and comfort to your sleep setup at a very low weight (14 oz for the regular size), and can be used as a nice cushion during your lunch or lounging around camp.

Shop the NEMO Switchback sleeping pad, here.

Jetboil Cook Systems (25% Off)

Compact, lightweight, and fuel-efficient, the Jetboil Flash is ideal for backpacking. The all-in-one Jetboil cook systems include an insulated pot, stove, and built-in push igniter.

I love that I can boil water in literally seconds with the Jetboil Flash system, perfect for re-hydrating backpacking meals after a long day or making my morning cup of coffee at camp.

For a more advanced cooking system, the MiniMo Cooking System has a working simmer control, meaning you can cook gourmet meals in the backcountry without sacrificing weight.

MSR Pocket Rocket 2 Stove (25% Off)

A classic and compact stove, the MSR Pocket Rocket is a popular choice for backpackers looking for a lightweight and reliable cooking system.
